A friend suggested I watch the movie, but I've always been a book vs. movie type...
I was, however, not surprised by how good it was considering it was a novel by the very well known David Mitchell. So, to know there was a movie featuring some of the most famous people in Hollywood didn't surprise me at all either.
I did read the book and watch the movie. The movie was great for visualizing parts of the book that needed a bit of a helping hand but the book was the clear winner in filling in bits the movie left out (and really shouldn't have).
Don't get me wrong, it was a great movie.
However, the book was better.
Yes, yes, I know. I'm biased as an author. Of course I'm going to like the book better.
Not always true.
But definitely in this case.
However, unlike most book-to-movie adaptations, the movie was a good movie. And, honestly, (which my friend also pointed out) if they tried to include absolutely everything it wouldn't have been a movie but a mini-series (yes, please).
Definitely worth checking out while we're in lockdown.
